When embarking on a new SEO campaign, one of the best places to start is by figuring out what keywords you are going to target. Rather than just picking a keyword and going for it, you want to take a look at both keyword volume and difficulty.
In this case, “cheap land for sale,” was the company’s target keyword. Looking into this, the choice of keyword was alright, it did seem to reach the target market. But, when researching “land for sale,” it has nearly 10x the search volume and is not that much higher on the difficulty index. It’s not always better to go for the higher volume keywords because they tend to have more completion, but, in this case, dropping “cheap” has the chance of dramatically increasing the amount of organic traffic.
